By the middle 50’s … By the middle 50’s most people had refrigerators. My dad was born in ‘36 and when he was a kid they were dirt poor and didn’t have electricity but they did have a gas refrigerator (LP gas, I guess).
In another one of … In another one of these lost episodes Ralph and Norton decide to get rich by becoming songwriters. Ralph uses party of the money saved for Christmas gifts to make a down-payment on a piano. Awisefool has the whole episode here.
It could be the same piano…or writers simply took it out later.
I didn’t know that … I didn’t know that Jackie Gleason was known for playing a wide range of characters until I watched this episode and someone older than myself told me. The Honeymooners was on tv many years before I was even born so I don’t know a whole lot about it. I used to watch it with my dad and Grandfather and that’s why I like the show. It brings back many good memories. Thanks for replying, ht8082001us!
Well I always … Well I always thought that electric refrigerators was rare in people’s homes due to the fact that they was fairly new and the poorer folks couldn’t pay for them. My grandparents born in the early 30’s often talk about having the ice man deliver ice in the 40’s-50’s because they still had a icebox…of course this was southern United States
The world’s … The world’s strongest man would have alot of trouble lugging a full keg of beer and a block of ice around like that. When did the Kramden’s get a tv and a piano? The orange juice squeezer gag was used on the Christmas show on “The Honeymooners” later…
He doesn’t in any … He doesn’t in any of the Honeymooners shows. He had a follow up show from Miami where he used that line. Subsequently he did develop the Reginald Van Gleason III he mentioned in this clip.
