Anyone else think it is ironic that christmas trees are often sold by fire departments as a fund raiser?

As I am sure you know, live christmas trees are the number one cause of house fires during the holidays. I have always used an artificial myself.
That is odd. Did you watch American Inventor? This fire fighter guy actually made a sprinkler system that would activate on trees as soon as the smallest smoke started. I can't remember if he won, but he should have. That would save a lot of lives.
